On January 31, 2026, the Chinese Consulate General in Erbil hosted the “Embracing the Chinese New Year” tea reception. Consul General Mr. Liu Jun engaged in discussions and exchanged views with over 30 representatives from Chinese enterprises, Chinese compatriots, and Chinese language teachers in the consular district. “Spring Festival packages” were distributed to attendees, along with New Year greetings. Consul Mr. Zou Demin attended and chaired the event.

CG Liu reviewed the achievements made over the past year in exchanges and cooperation between China and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in areas including inter-party relations, economy and trade, education, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. He expressed his appreciation to overseas Chinese for their contributions, emphasized that the Consulate General serves as a home for all Chinese nationals in the KRI, and reaffirmed its commitment to practicing people-centered diplomacy by helping address their concerns and difficulties. He also encouraged them to actively fulfill their social responsibilities, maintain a positive image, pay close attention to production safety, operate in compliance with laws and regulations, and enjoy a safe, peaceful, and happy Spring Festival.

Representatives of enterprises and Chinese compatriots thanked the Government’s care and support, and expressed their willingness to remain close connection with the motherland and contribute to the friendship and cooperation between China and the KRI.
