On June 7, 2026, Consul General Liu Jun visited Bright Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) in Sulaymaniyah Province and held a meeting with  Dr. Danyar Abubaker Salih, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Dr. Jawhar Jalal Waso, Dean of BTVI. Mr. Gong Teng, Operation and Maintenance Project Manager of Sinoma (Suzhou) Construction Co., Ltd. in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), also attended the meeting.

Liu Jun expressed delight that BTVI has reached a cooperation agreement with Mianyang Polytechnic and will soon send 17 teachers and students to China for technical training. This marks an important step in deepening practical cooperation between the two sides. Liu noted that the KRI is an important partner of China under the Belt and Road Initiative, and China is willing to share its development experience, promote cooperation in vocational and technical education, and support economic diversification and manufacturing upgrading of the KRI. The leadership of BTVI highly appreciated China’s assistance in enhancing professional skills of its teachers and students, and looks forward to further deepening bilateral cooperation.

Sinoma (Suzhou) Construction Co., Ltd. has been operating in Iraq’s building materials industry for many years and actively fulfills its social responsibilities locally. The company facilitated the establishment of a talent training center by Mianyang Polytechnic in the KRI, laying a solid foundation for sustained cooperation between the two sides in vocational education.
