On 24 June 2026, Consul General Liu Jun met with Dr. Hemin Hawrami, Member of the Politburo of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). Deputy Consul General Zhang Jianxin was also present.

Liu Jun emphasized the significance of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), elaborated on the core essence of General Secretary Xi Jinping's thought on Party building, and stated that the CPC is willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with political parties in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) including the KDP, and share experiences in governance. The two sides also exchanged views on the recent political situation of the KRI.
