On 4 August 2026, Consul General Mr. Liu Jun met with Dr. Mohammed Shukri, Chairman of the KRG Board of Investment, and exchanged in-depth views on strengthening investment and economic and trade cooperation between China and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).

CG Liu noted that China is the world's only country that possesses all the industrial categories under the United Nations classifications. With the world's largest manufacturing sector, a booming high-tech industry, and steadily growing innovation capacity, China stands ready to further deepen practical cooperation with the KRI under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, promote common development, and deliver greater benefits to the people of the KRI.

Dr. Shukri said that Chinese enterprises have made significant contributions to the KRI's development in recent years. The two sides have established a solid foundation for cooperation in such fields as infrastructure and telecommunications, with broad prospects for future cooperation. The KRG will continue to improve the business environment and create more favorable conditions for Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in the KRI.
