On September 1, 2026, Consul General Liu Jun met with H.E. Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). They exchanged views on the current regional situation and bilateral cooperation. Deputy Consul General Zhang Jianxin was also present.

Liu Jun said that since the outbreak of the latest round of regional conflict, Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping has put forward four propositions for maintaining and promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, as well as four principles for advancing the settlement of the Palestinian question. These proposals fully demonstrate China's consistent position to promote peace and end conflicts, and provide a Chinese approach to helping regional countries pursue peace and stability. Recently, facing the ongoing regional conflicts, the Chinese side kindly requests that the KRG will as always attach great importance to ensuring the safety and security of Chinese personnel and institutions.

Qubad said that we highly appreciates President Xi Jinping's proposals on the Middle East issue. In recent years, a large number of Chinese companies have made significant contributions to the economic and social development of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The KRG attaches great importance to China's concerns and will make every effort to ensure the safety and security of Chinese personnel and institutions.
