On 25 October 2026, Acting Consul General Zhang Jianxin visited the University of Duhok in Iraq, where he met with Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok, and held a discussion with faculty and staff members who have taken part in training programs in China.

Acting CG Zhang said that in recent years, exchanges and cooperation between China and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) have maintained good momentum, with educational and people-to-people exchanges flourishing across multiple areas. The Consulate General is ready to deepen cooperation with the University of Duhok and run the “China Corner” well, so as to provide a platform for teachers and students to learn about China.

Dr. Dawood thanked China for its support, and said the university is willing to build on the China Corner to explore Chinese language teaching, establish inter-university cooperation with Chinese institutions, and learn from China’s advanced experience in agriculture, manufacturing, high technology and other fields, so as to raise the level of local research in these areas.

Faculty representatives expressed gratitude to the Consulate General for the valuable training opportunities, shared their experiences of studying in China, and offered suggestions on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
